Contact Sound

Contact Sound

Performance/urban intervention with a sound device. The sound plays when bodies touch or, when moving herself, the performer touches different parts of her body. From a box, two wires are pulled; one in contact with the body and the other is electrically isolated on one hand. The circuit closes when two or more people make contact with each other through their hands or any other body part. The sound that comes from the speaker alters its frequency according to the kind of touch and to the body involved with the action .Contact Sound is a noise, a disruption to the normative flow of cities and everyday life. It suggests appropriating the device, “Do it yourself” - D.I.Y. and the use of technologies free and open, reflecting on the use of public spaces and privatization of bodies.

This intervention has been performed more than 100 times in more than 60 cities in South America.
